Frequent area of leaks around chimney is the area where chimney meets roof.  This area is protected with Ice & Water Shield membrane under roofing, and metal flashing at junction of chimney with roof.  Sometimes, a wood structure called a cricket must be framed in chimney area to redirect water away from chimney.  This will be determined by your chimney technician at time of inspection.
